In this concluding post of the Realising Benefits series, we will explore the practical applications of this tool in your day-to-day life…
Benefits and Practical Applications
We have explored how our subconscious mind is the source of energetic waves of intention giving direction to our mental processes. The main focus of this tool up to this point has been around how we can leverage this potential to gain a compound return on our investment in to our own self-development.
This power though is not constrained to our relationship with ourself, it also applies to our relationships with other humans, so we will now look at a some of practical examples of how this could apply for you.
But first consider that stored in our subconscious are our beliefs about the world which influence what we choose to focus on while also seeping out as subtext and intent in our actions.
In a given situation if we feel fear, or have an expectation that outcomes will be a certain way, we can unconsciously steer the situation towards making these outcomes manifest.
With this in mind, here are some example situations for you to ponder:
Swimming Lesson
When taking a young child for their first swimming lessons, the parent may have the expectation that the child will not like having water splashed on their face. Now while this outcome may be probable, you have a choice as to how you respond when this happens; you can either anticipate a negative reaction from the child and initiate a response to reassure them (re-enforcing it is expected they will not like it) or, just carry on like nothing has happened (signalling it is not a big deal).
What you predict and your predetermined response, influences your behaviour which in turn influences the behaviour of the child. Now I describe this as a conscious process, but it can easily be an unconscious choice around your parenting style.
How would you handle this situation?
Wake up Time
Do you snooze or just get out of bed?
Your habits at this crucial moment of the day are a direct window in to your unconscious beliefs. Do you believe that you are a person that gets out of bed with the alarm or someone that snoozes. Neither is good nor bad; they are just different approaches to living.
Do you accept the person that you are?
Being Sure
When you set your mind on achieving an outcome, are you committed with unwavering conviction or is there a little voice of doubt in your mind?
If there is a little voice, where is it coming from and what beliefs do you hold that is driving it?
How could you alter the programming of your subconscious mind to quieten this voice?
Default to Positive
Thinking back to the tool of the Neutral Realist and the Faithful Optimist, what does your glass look like?
Are you aware of your default perspective on the outcomes of a situation?
Does this default work for you or is it a limiting factor on your performance? How could you alter the programming of your subconscious mind to change this default perspective?
Intention and Undertones
When you interact with other humans, your intention and as such the undertone of your engagement will be in alignment with the programming in your subconscious mind.
This mean that if you honestly respect the other person and want the best outcome for both of you, this will be evident within the subtext of your conversation. The other person will be aware of this; more as a feeling than a conscious thought though.
Transversely, if you do not really like the other person or have selfish intentions, this will be felt in the interaction.
Take a moment to consider how much of the time your mouth spends on auto pilot. Do you really pause and consider every word that comes out of your mouth? When our mouth is running on auto pilot, the words that come out and the choices that we make are the stuff of the subconscious mind. We engage in the situation in front of us and unconsciously make manifest the vision of the future that our subconscious mind knows will unfold.
I specifically us the word know, rather than think. This is because the subconscious mind does not think and try, it only knows and does. Hesitation is the domain of the conscious mind.
Is your unconscious mind performing optimally for you to achieve your goals?
The Takeaway
Creating a vison for the future by visualising what you want to happen is the foundation of manifestation. Without the practice of mindful living though, the seeds you have sown in your subconscious mind will not bear fruit.
You see, ultimately, you are the one that is going to create the future that you desire.
Through action in the present moment.
The two-pronged attack of positive affirmation and mindfulness is the way to do it – visualising what you want to achieve then creating the right conditions to succeed
This insight can be applied in every single aspect of your life. Be that creating your home environment, being a parent, succeeding professionally or excelling athletically.
The principles are universal.
Focus on what you want so it becomes real in your mind, then focus on the present moment.
Trust in the process.
Trust in yourself.
Trust that your journey in life is perfectly imperfect in every way.
And remember…
Everything will be alright in the end,
so if it is not alright,
that means it is not yet the end.

Enjoy, for now.
